Village servants to intensify stir during Praja Patham

KADAPA: The Village Servants Association members will intensify their stir by gheraoing Ministers and ruling party MLAs during Praja Patham and staging dharnas in front of MLAs' houses, its leaders announced here on Thursday.

The State Government has been indifferent to the 22-day-old Statewide agitation from April 22 onwards, Village Servants Association district honorary president B. Narayana and district president M. Chennaiah alleged in a press conference. The village servants would submit memoranda to B.R. Ambedkar's statues and public representatives and officials participating in Ambedkar jayanthi programmes on April 14.

Dharnas would be held before ruling party members' houses and representations submitted to Opposition party leaders on April 16. Ministers and MLAs participating in Praja Patham would be gheraoed between April 14 and 30, they said.

DA hike

Fifty thousand village servants had been demanding hike in monthly pay from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 3,000, Rs. 50 hike in DA and promotions to eligible ones, they said. The Government responded favourably on DA hike, but was adamant on pay hike and promotions.

Hence, association's State committee decided to intensify the stir.

Kadapa district Collector M.T. Krishna Babu assured reinstatement of association's district president M. Chennaiah who was unceremoniously removed from service, during discussions with association leaders, they said.

The Collector was also sympathetic on maintenance of service registers, allotment of house sites and banjar lands, bicycle allowance, they said and thanked him.

Association's district vice-president N. Venkataramana and joint secretary Bandaru Sudhakar also participated.
