ADILABAD: Jeelani Pairak, a member of the Andhra Pradesh Official Languages Commission, on Thursday appealed to the district administration to appoint a coordination committee with Collector R. Subba Rao as chairman for overseeing implementation of Urdu as second official language in Government offices. He said unless a supervisory committee is in place, usage of Urdu cannot be implemented. At a press conference here, he demanded that sign boards and name boards in the Government offices be written in Telugu, Urdu and English for the convenience of Urdu speakers. He wanted names on plaques for foundation stones to be written in Urdu too. Mr. Pairak said use of translator in the Government offices was a must to translate petitions coming in Urdu language. He also suggested giving incentives to minority medium schools for development of Urdu language.
