S.L. Bhyrappa draws flak

BANGALORE:
Vatal Nagaraj (Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha) on Thursday criticised the noted Kannada writer S.L. Bhyrappa for supporting Infosys chief mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy on his remarks on the national anthem.
Mr. Nagaraj, who raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly, said he was not able to understand on what grounds Dr. Bhyrappa defended Mr. Murthy's remarks on the national anthem.
Mr. Nagaraj sought a report from the police on the incident in which Mr. Murthy defended the playing of the instrumental version of the anthem at a function attended by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in Mysore on Sunday.
As Home Minister M.P. Prakash was not present in the House at that time, Deputy Speaker N.Y. Gopalakrishna asked Mr. Nagaraj to raise the issue later.
