80 schools to be upgraded

CHENNAI : Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Thursday announced that 80 high schools would be upgraded as higher secondary schools this academic year. Headmaster posts in the schools would also be upgraded and the pay-scale revised to Rs.8,000-275-13,500. Five new posts would be created for postgraduate teachers in each of the 80 schools. The Government would incur an additional expenditure of about Rs.9 crore.
