Civic apathy at its worst
They could not see the writing on the wall! A hapless life was lost. The self-righteously complacent officials would get back to their usual senseless knee-jerk measures. And knowing how fickle the public memory is, things would certainly revert back to normalcy and people would carry on with their lives.
Wednesday's incident, when strong winds ripped apart a huge 15-tonne advertisement hoarding at Jubilee Hills once again raises a pertinent question of safety.
It also raises the question of where to draw the `Lakshmanrekha' and put a stop to the mindless hoardings and the hype and hooplah generally associated with it.
Do the civic authorities have it in them to take up some meaningful decisions to stop this from recurring? Only time can tell
