Puducherry: Lt. Governor Mukut Mithi has, in his message on the occasion of Tamil New Year Day on Saturday, said that the Tamil people all over the world celebrated the day in the month of `Chithirai'. He extended his "puthaandu vaazhthukal" to the people of the Union Territory and the Tamil people around the globe. "May this `Sarvajit Year' herald in peace, prosperity and happiness in the lives of the people in Puducherry," he said. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, in his message, said that Tamil people had always zealously integrated Tamil language with their development. The Government had introduced Tamil as a compulsory language up to Standard VIII. As soon as the Centre declared Tamil a classical language, the administration had created a separate directorate for development of Tamil. He conveyed his greetings to all and wished that the New Year bring in peace, happiness and prosperity in the life of everyone. Pattali Makkal Katchi Parliamentary Party leader M. Ramadoss, PCC leader P Shanmugham, and secretary of the AIADMK here A. Anbalagan and host of leaders extended their greetings.
