Babli: meet threatens to intensify agitation

Special Correspondent

Congress, TRS, BJP, MIM stay off Naidu's all-party meeting

HYDERABAD: An all- party conclave organised by the Telugu Desam on Babli row, which was reduced to a mere three- party meeting on Friday, warned of intensifying the public agitation if the Government continued to show its indifference. The Congress, TRS, BJP and MIM stayed away and only the CPI (M) and the CPI besides CPI (ML) New Democracy attended the meeting.

While assuring all cooperation, the meeting wanted the Government to play a pro-active role, convene an all-party meeting and send a team to Babli to see if the works had been stopped as directed by the Centre. The meeting resolved to appeal to the Centre to inform the Supreme Court as to how Maharashtra had built "reservoir within a reservoir" in violation of the inter- State agreement.
