JAIPUR: The Central Government proposes to bring down the number of agencies involved in providing clearance for export of agricultural products. At present there are 30 agencies that need to be contacted for getting clearances for agricultural exports. "If our agro exports have to rise with greater involvement of farmers, the number of these agencies would have to come down to a bare minimum. Necessary ground work is in the offing for this," said Agriculture Processing, Export and Development Agency (APEDA) Chairman K. S. Money said here on Friday.
"The involvement of so many agencies is causing delays in export transactions besides causing mental and physical harassment," he said. Mr. Money was speaking at a conference on "Linking farmers to superstores", organised here by ASSOCHAM. Export-related cold storages would also be set up in large numbers near airports
