JAIPUR: Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills, the maker of the famous Mayur Suitings, plans to set up a 27 million metres denim facility at Mordi in Banswara district. The plant, to be commissioned in two phases, will also have a 46 MW thermal power plant, which can cater to the power needs of all eight units of the mill in Rajasthan. Riju Jhunjhunwala, Joint Managing Director of the mill, talking to journalists on the occasion of the launch of Mayur's 2007 spring collection here, said the company had plans to invest Rs.900 crore in expansion of spindles and modernization of the existing plants in the next few months. Besides acquiring a state-of-the-art process house at Mordi, the mill has started production for international brands at its new garment facility near Bangalore, he said. The mill, the flagship company of LNJ Bhilwara Group, has a group revenue of Rs.2, 700 crores of which Rs.700 crore came from exports, Mr. Jhunjhunwala said. It has a total manufacturing capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes of yarn per annum in its units at Gulabpura, Banswara, Mandapam, Rishabdev and Reengas -- all in Rajasthan. An IS/ISO 9001:2001 accredited company; it is primarily engaged in the manufacture of synthetic, blended, mélange, specialty yarns and fabrics. Since 1993 the mill has been the largest exporter of P/V Blended yarn. At present it is exporting yarn and fabrics to 60 countries. Mr. Jhunjhunwala said the mill would strengthen its presence in the State.
