Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Hassan Town Police here on Friday arrested Shivanna Gowda and his wife Jayalakshmi on charge of alleged murder of Yogish of Kandili village near Hassan.

Superintendent of Police Panduranga Rane through a press release said that the body of Yogish was found on April 9 in a well in Kandili village under Hassan Town Police limits.

During investigation, the couple confessed that about a year ago, Yogish gave Rs. 70,000 to Jayalakshmi. When Yogish visited Jayalakshmi's house to take the money, she and Yogish got into a relationship and the affair continued. On April 8, Shivanna Gowda caught the couple red handed. Yogish demanded Shivanna Gowda to return his money.

The couple then took Yogish to the bathroom, assaulted him and strangled him with a telephone wire. They threw the body in a well in the village. Both the accused were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hassan, and were remanded to judicial custody.
