KARIMNAGAR: Rich tributes were paid to former Assembly Speaker D. Sripada Rao on the occasion of his eighth death anniversary in Karimnagar district on Friday by organising several welfare programmes. In Kaleshwaram temple town, Minister for Tourism J. Geetha Reddy had unveiled the statue of Sripada Rao in the presence of Government Whip D. Sridhar Babu, ZP chairman A. Mohan, DCC president T Santosh Kumar and other leaders. In Karimnagar town, the DCC had organised a poor feeding programme at Sripada chowk in the town. Mayor D. Shankar, KDCCB chairman K Ravinder Rao and other leaders participated in the programme. The DCC leaders have planned to install the statue of former Assembly Speaker in Karimnagar town also. On the other hand, D. Sripada charitable trust had conducted a blood donation camp and distributed spectacles to 200 persons who underwent cataract operations. Besides, seven sewing machines were also distributed to the poorest of the poor on the occasion at Revenue gardens in the town.
