KOCHI: Power supply in several parts of the city was affected on Friday night as trees fell over power lines in the heavy wind and summer shower that lashed the city. The power supply to the central city area was disrupted at around 8.30 p.m. Several trees were uprooted in the wind that blew across the city. A huge tree at near Rajiv Gandhi Indoor stadium got uprooted. One house at Udaya colony at Gandhi Nagar was partly damaged after a tree fell over it. A car was damaged at Ravipuram when branches of a tree fell on it. Trees also got uprooted at Palarivattom and Karingachira areas. The power supply to the control room of the Kerala State Electricity Board was also disrupted. The Fire and Rescue Department officials were pressed into action in different parts of the city for removing the trees that got uprooted.
