Mastery over the skies

KOCHI: For the uninformed, it was a real surprise. On Saturday morning, they looked up at the sky over the Marine Drive and saw two red-painted aircraft leaving a heart-shaped pattern using white smoke. One more aircraft was there to complete the drill.

This was followed by three helicopters drawing patterns on the sky. Only then, were the surprised lot told that this was just a rehearsal by the Suryakiran Formation Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Aerobatics Team. The real show will bring more colours on Sunday morning.

The air shows are part of the South Indian tour by the teams to mark the platinum jubilee of the Indian Air Force. Some of the best pilots the force has will weave magic over the Marine Drive on Sunday at 10 a.m.
