Anup Sridhar crashes out

New Delhi: Anup Sridhar's good run in the Asian Badminton Championship came to an end on Saturday as he went down to Olympic Champion Taufiq Hidayat of Indonesia 19-21, 14-21 in the semifinals of the men's singles event at Johar Baru, Malaysia.

Hidayat will meet second seed Chinese Chen Hong, who prevailed 21-14, 17-21, 21-17 over Yeoh Kay Bin of Malaysia, in the final.

This is the second time in the season when Anup has reached the last four stage of a prestigious event. Sridhar had earlier made it to the German Open semifinals. — PTI
