`TAKE ME HOME': Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasrin obliges autograph hunters after the release of her book ``Mujhe Ghar Le Chalo'' in Bhopal on Sunday.
Bhopal: Women wearing revealing outfits and baring themselves are ``victims of the patriarchal society in line with those forced to wear burkha'', noted Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin said here on Sunday. The right to freedom and to take decisions about self-discipline lies with the individual, the controversial author said here at a literary session. ``Most men believe they are offering freedom to women. Who are they to give freedom to their wives?'' she asked. Claiming that her tirade was not against men, the writer living in exile for the past 12 years said it was for equality. She said it was because of the male-dominated society's demands that women were forced to bare themselves in movies and magazines. Ms. Taslima said unlike in India, during her stay in Europe, she felt out of place due to her physical features. ``I feel that I belong here. There is not much of a difference in cultures. I have applied for Indian citizenship and am not sure whether I will get it,'' she said. PTI
