RAGHUNATHPALLY (WARANGAL DT.): The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to add an extra Rs. 300 crore towards the drinking water component of the ongoing Devadula project. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, besides taking part in the community lunch and laying the foundation for additional classrooms, also launched the third phase works on the ongoing Devadula project. Hewas here to take part in the Praja Patham programme at Aswaraopalli village here on Sunday. Responding to the plea made by Hanamkonda MP B. Vinod Kumar, the Chief Minister said the Government was ready to add Rs. 300 crore to the Devadula project estimates to ensure drinking water to the villages in the district.
Naik's request
Social Welfare Minister D.S. Redya Naik requested the Chief Minister to consider waiver of interest on loans extended by the SC Corporation to help more SC community members benefit. The corporation extended Rs 1,300-crore loans on which interest to the tune of Rs. 300 crore had accumulated. Responding positively, Dr. Reddy said the Government was committed to the welfare of the downtrodden and would waive the interest on the loan. Accusing the TDP of politicising the Babli project issue, the Chief Minister said the Government had been trying to sort out the problem through democratic means as it involved two States. Home Minister K.Jana Reddy, who is also the district incharge Minister, Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, MLAs, MLCs, were among those present.
