Telugu Desam seeks white paper on ayacut created

HYDERABAD:
The TDP on Sunday demanded a "white paper" on the additional ayacut created during the last three years, as claims made by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd. Shabbir Ali were `inconsistent'.
At a press conference here, TDP leader S. Venugopalachary said an advertisement released in the name of Mr. Shabbir Ali listed creation of an additional 12 lakh acres of ayacut among the Government's achievements. He quoted Dr. Reddy as having stated in January that seven lakh acres were added.
He wanted details of the irrigated land created district-wise under each project to be listed in the white paper.
