VISAKHAPATNAM: Sankara Jayanthi will be celebrated at Sankara Matham in the city from Wednesday to April 22. Informing this to The Hindu here on Monday, secretary of Sankara Matham, Susarla Suryanarayana Murthy, said special pujas and rituals like Avahanti homam, Rudrabhishekam, Ganapathi homam, Medha Dakshninamurthi homam, Navagraha homam, and Rudra homam would be performed during the five-day programme. On the final day, a Veda Sabha would be held and `Nyaya Vidyapraveena' Oruganti Ramalala Sarma of Rashtriya Sanksrit Peetham would be honoured. Eminent scholars Vedula Subrahmanya Sastry, Maddulapalli Dattatreya Sastry, Chirravuri Sriramasarma, Prabhala Subrahmanya Sarma, Pappu Varaha Narasimha Murthy, Oruganti Guruprasad Lakshminarayana Sarma, O. Sita and others would deliver discourses on the life and works of Sri Adi Sankara. A vocal concert by G. Saileswari of Padmavathi Mahila University would also be organised during the valedictory programme, he said.
