HYDERABAD: The police on Monday arrested five persons, including two women and two hired killers, in connection with the murder of insurance agent N. Venkatesham in Alwal 11 days ago. Investigations revealed that illicit relationship and demand for money had prompted one Sumila to use her another paramour to get Venkatesham killed. The police said the murder victim had developed illegitimate intimacy with Sumila a decade ago and began demanding money from her. In her confessional statement, Sumila maintained that she had once sought the help of Malkajigiri police to check harassment by Venkatesham. She later come in contact with P. Lingaiah and developed intimacy with him too. Lingaiah allegedly hired P. Srinu and I. Punnaiah to kill Venkatesham for Rs. 1 lakh by paying them Rs. 20,000 as advance. The assassins befriended the LIC agent by promising him to take some policies. On the night of April 4, they asked him to come to a secluded place on Yapral-Balajinagar stretch where they stabbed him to death. The police arrested Srinu when he came to collect money from the house of Sumila. On the basis of his confession, Sumila, her sister, Lingaiah and Punnaiah were arrested.
