Inauguration: `Sarga Sahithi' the organisation being formed by the Department of Malayalam, University of Kerala, to enable students to interact with litterateurs, will be inaugurated by poet O.N.V. Kurup on April 18. The inaugural ceremony will be held at the seminar hall of the Department of Malayalam. The 86th edition of `Bhasha Sahithi' the magazine brought out by the department and `Mattoru Vyloppilly' penned by K.P. Sankaran will be released on the occasion.

B.Tech examination: Applications for the first, second and sixth semester B.Tech examinations beginning May 22, and the fourth semester and the eighth semester (regular and supplementary, 2003 / 1998 schemes) beginning May 21 can be submitted without fine till April 30 and with a fine of Rs.50 till May 5. Candidates will have to pay the centralised valuation camp fee of Rs.200 along with the examination fee.

B.Sc. / MLT: Applications for the first year B.Sc. / MLT examinations beginning May 8 can be submitted without fine till April 23 and with a fine of Rs.50 till April 25. Candidates should pay Rs. 200 as centralised valuation camp fee along with the examination fee.

Practical exams: The first year BCA / B.Sc. Computer Science (IDE) practical examinations will be held on April 19 and that of the second year examinations on April 23 at the centres given below: the Keltron IT Education Centre, Kozhikode; Keltron IT Education Centre, Thrissur; UIT, Alappuzha; FMN College, Kollam; Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram and the Government College, Kariavattom. First year students (regular) of the study centre at Kannur should report for the practical examination at the centre at Kozhikode. The detailed timetable can be had from the individual centres.

Project fellow: There is a vacancy for a project fellow in a research project related to the development of the Western Ghats at the Department of Botany. Those with a post-graduate degree (first class) in botany can apply. The monthly stipend will be Rs.500 and the period of appointment, three years. Further details can be had from the department on phone 0471-2418301.

Mercy chance: The final MA Hindi (annual scheme last mercy chance) special paper two originally scheduled on April 16 will now be held on April 20.

B.Com; The M.Com mercy chance examinations scheduled on April 9 and 10 will now be held on April 18 and 20 respectively while the M.Sc. examinations will be held on April 23 and 25, respectively. The MA examinations scheduled on April 9 and 10 will now be held on May 11 and 14 respectively.
