National council for clinical establishments

NEW DELHI: The Union Health Ministry has constituted a National Council for Clinical Establishments. The object is to determine minimum standards for them and hold periodic reviews.

It will also classify them into different categories; and compile, maintain and update a national register of the establishments.

The council has been set up under the Directorate of Health Services with the Director-General of Health Services as chairperson. It will have representation from the Dental, Medical, Nursing and Pharmacy councils, according to a notification issued here on Tuesday.

Three representatives from the Central Council of Indian Medicine (Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani), and one representative each from the Central Council of Homoeopathy, the Central Council of the Indian Medical Association and the Bureau of Indian Standards will also be members.
