Qatar-based Non-Resident Indian businessman M.P. Abdulla did not think twice on what to offer his 5,000 guests, who came to attend the wedding of his son at Parakkadavu near Nadapuram recently. He decided to serve his guests a special drink to beat the summer heat. Mr. Abdulla ordered a truckload of tender coconuts from Kuttiyadi in Kozhikode district. "Guests were given tea, coffee, juices and tender coconut water. But most of them preferred to sip cool tender coconut water," said Abdulla, who runs a chain of supermarkets and fast-food joints in Qatar. "That is another way to promote tender coconut water in the age of globalisation. It is also cost-effective when catering to a big crowd, " said V.P. Abdurahiman, a lawyer and a guest at the wedding. He was delighted at the novel idea of serving tender coconut water at the ceremony.
