News Analysis
The caption of a standalone photograph "Terror on campus" (April 17, 2007, page 1) and the detailed report on the deadliest mass shooting in America ("32 killed in varsity shootout", "International" page, April 17, 2007) had made a reference to "shootout" in describing the incidents. A shootout is a decisive gun battle or a gunfight. The right word should have been shootings. A sentence in "[Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao] Deshmukh moves resolution for scrapping urban land ceiling law" (April 17, 2007) was: "The resolution involved release of 34 hectares of land worth Rs. 85,000 crore in Mumbai." The Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly mentioned the figure of 34 hectares. The Special Correspondent clarifies that this figure is wrong and should have been 34,000 hectares.
