Aligarh: A section of students of the Aligarh Muslim University went on the rampage during a protest on Tuesday, disrupting examinations and forcing the closure of its administrative office. The students, who were demanding relaxation in the minimum percentage of attendance and cancellation of some question papers in ongoing tests, barged into the administrative office and forced its closure. They also disrupted examinations for undergraduate arts students at different centres. The ire of the protesters was directed at the office of the AMU's Controller of Examinations and Admissions. The AMU campus has been troubled for the past few weeks. The sudden resignation of Vice-Chancellor Naseem Ahmad shortly before his tenure ended further affected the situation. On April 14, students barged into the residence of acting Vice- Chancellor Saleemuddin and indulged in unruly behaviour. Prof. Saleemuddin was not prevent at his home at the time of the incident. Over 30 senior teachers and former teaching staff condemned the incident and warned that some ``undesirable elements'' were deliberately trying to engineer violence in the campus. PTI
