JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday dedicated to the people a centralised kitchen at Teendhar in Jhalawar district for providing fresh mid-day meals to 25,000 students of 230 schools. The kitchen has been established by the Nandi Foundation of Hyderabad, and a Kota-based private company. Ms. Raje said regular supply of hot and nutritious food to children in schools every afternoon would lead to a significant decline in the dropout rate. The State Government is trying to establish similar kitchens in the tribal-dominated Salumbar and Kotra regions of Rajasthan to control malnutrition among children. She said the mid-day meal scheme was benefiting 75-lakh children across the State and had provided employment to 1.3-lakh women engaged for cooking the food. She also flagged off two mid-day meal vehicles on two routes on the occasion while pointing out that the distribution of food would be started on 12 routes soon.
