Flyovers proposal to be studied

Special Correspondent

Technical survey to be commissioned on feasibility

Puducherry : Chief Minister N. Rangasamy told R.K.R. Anndaraman (Pattali Makkal Katchi) during question hour on Tuesday that a technical survey would be conducted on building flyovers to link Ariankuppam and Reddiarpalayam with Puducherry. He said that Larsen & Toubro had already presented a project report. The Government would study it and conduct a technical survey. There was a necessity to build such overbridges, he noted.

He said regular garbage clearance in interior villages of Mannadipet constituency would be taken up very soon. The Chief Minister told Nandha T. Saravanan (Dravida Munnetra Khazhagam) that the temple lands would not allowed to be distributed free of cost. The Government would levy a price, which would be within their means. Mr. Rangasamy said that in the past some philanthropists bequeathed their properties to the temples. If such properties should be handed over to those living on the sites free of cost, it would deprive the temples of sources of routine expenditure.

The Chief Minister told the member that steps would be taken to ensure that the Government would reimburse the temples for the special pay of Rs.50 they were paying to the archakas and other employees in the temples every month. Education Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan told the House all the teachers in the Government schools would be covered under Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme.

A. Marimuthu (Independent) and A.M.H. Nazeem (DMK) said that although the Government had taken a policy decision regarding this, it should be implemented immediately. The Chief Minister said that the administration had got a report to adopt the pattern now in practice in New Delhi in this regard.
