Revenue divisions to be reorganised

Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: The reorganisation of revenue divisions will be taken up only after the ongoing delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies is completed, Revenue Minister D. Prasada Rao has said.

The Government had decided to take up the reorganisation of divisions, following a number of requests from local elected representatives, he told reporters here on Tuesday.

A ministerial sub-committee had been preparing guidelines to implement the project.

"Creation of urban agglomerations is the need of the hour in view of the large scale of migration of people from villages.

It would also simplify administration and would facilitate development of urban amenities,'' he said.

The exercise would be taken up at Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Guntur, he said.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya, Sattenapalli MLA Y. Venkesteswara Reddy were present.
