MUMBAI: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gopinath Munde on Tuesday identified the slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's cellphone and also the threatening SMS, about which he told a court here earlier. The court took the cellphone in its custody and recorded the SMS contents. Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said Mahajan's phone and other belongings were with his daughter Poonam. The prosecution filed a supplementary statement of Poonam and documents related to the cellphone. It also informed the court that the SMS was sent at 4.39 p.m. on April 15, 2006 from the phone of Pravin, younger brother of Pramod Mahajan. Mr. Munde earlier told additional sessions judge S.P. Davare that Pramod Mahajan had mentioned about an SMS from his younger brother, and asked him to talk to Pravin about it. The message, in Hindi, read: "Now there will be no more prayers or pleas; now there will be war and there will be victory or end to all." This was a few days before April 22, 2006, when Pravin allegedly fired three bullets at Pramod Mahajan, Mr. Munde said. Mr. Munde is likely to be cross-examined by defence on Wednesday.
