Jayawardene defends decision

`We thought it was the best time to give them a break'

St. George's (Grenada): Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene dismissed suggestions that his two key bowlers were ``tactically rested'' in a crucial World Cup Super Eight match against Australia here on Monday.

``They have been playing continuous cricket and we thought it was the best time to give them a break. There is nothing more or less to it,'' said Jayawardene defiantly to questions on his decision not to pick either Chaminda Vaas or Muttiah Muralitharan. — PTI
