`Praja Patham' a problem-solving exercise: Minister

Staff Reporter

`State committed to completing Uppalapadu scheme'

ANANTAPUR: `Praja Patham' is a good opportunity to get problems resolved, Minister for Animal Husbandry G. Surya Rao said at Mudigubba in the district on Tuesday. The programme was intended to take elected representatives to people when the latter were facing problems. There would be definite solutions if the problems of villages were taken to the notice of officials by villagers unitedly. He said that he had visited two villages in the same mandal in the last phase of the programme and that he would visit the villages again this time to find out how far the villagers' problems had been resolved.

Water problems

Responding to the drinking water problems raised by the villagers he said water had become scarce commodity in the district due to scanty rainfall year after year and depleting groundwater table. There were no surface water sources eitherto quench the thirst.

He said the Government was committed to complete the proposed Uppalapadu drinking water scheme to provide sufficient drinking water to the village. For the time being, water would be supplied through tankers.

When a person sought assistance for his kidney surgery, the Minister suggested him to get enrolled under `Aarogya Sri' scheme. It would cater to health needs of the poor, he said. The scheme was a boon to the drought-ravaged people of Anantapur district, he felt.

Earlier, Collector D. Kadmiel inspected BC Girls' Hostel and tasted the food items prepared for the inmates.
