ATA, TANA to adopt three villages in State
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The American Telugu Association (ATA) and the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) will adopt one village from each of the three regions in the State for taking up development projects. This was stated at a press conference here on Tuesday by Gavva Chandra Reddy, ATA president. "We are in the process of identifying the villages. We want to repay our gratitude to the motherland on behalf of about three lakh Telugus in US," Dr. Reddy, an oncologist from Indiana, said. He said ATA spent nearly US $ 2 million every year on various programmes for the benefit of Telugus. Dr. Reddy, a former student of Osmania University, said that recently an NRI had donated Rs.1 crore for a women's hostel in Warangal district. ATA and TANA would jointly felicitate Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on May 6 at Chicago.
