Babli dispute: police watching developments

Sangareddy: Nizamabad range DIG Anjani Kumar has said that the police are closely observing developments in the bordering area of Nizamabad that became a flashpoint due to Babli and Salura issues.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Anjani Kumar said that he was in touch with the SP and DIG of Nanded region on day-to-day basis to maintain law and order in the view of a series of protests planned by different political parties on our side of the border.

He said that section 144 had been clamped in the Salura area where the Members of Parliament of Aurangabad and Parbhani were supposed to visit. They were not allowed to enter the Salura area, he said.

Bandaru's charge

KARIMNAGAR: BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya has alleged that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu are deceiving people of Telangana on Babli project.

Taking part in a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday in protest against the work on Babli project, Mr. Dattatreya charged the Congress and the TDP with diluting the cause of Telangana. He said Dr. Reddy had failed to educate Prime Minister on the illegal construction.

He accused Mr. Naidu of shedding crocodile tears on the Babli row and on development of Telangana.
