Congressmen pull down pandal at gram sabha

Staff Reporter

Accuse MLA of delaying payment under rural job scheme

  • Fair price shop dealer stripped of dealership

KADAPA: Congress activists pulled down pandal at `Praja Patham' gram sabha in Dappepalle Dalitawada in Lakkireddipalle mandal on Tuesday and charged Lakkireddipalle legislator G. Mohan Reddy with delaying disbursement of wages under A.P. Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Lakkireddipalle mandal president Umapathi Reddy, ZPTC member Lalithamma, MPTC member Ramanamma and sarpanch Reddaiah abstained from the gram sabha. The protesters raised slogans declaring that they were boycotting the `Praja Patham' gram sabha.

They criticised the MLA for the cut in wages and DWMA Project Director M. Girijasankar for not assuring them of balance payment. Residents of the Dalitawada countered the ruling party protesters and questioned their propriety in obstructing the gram sabha. As tension prevailed, Lakkireddipalle SI Ramanjulu Naik and staff sent away the Congress activists. Later, the Joint Collector began the gram sabha.
