Reservoir works will commence soon: MLA

Kakinada: The drinking water problem in the town will be solved once the reservoir to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.32 lakhs under the APUSP scheme is completed, says Mutha Gopalakrishna, MLA.

Participating in the Praja Patham in 13th and 14th divisions adjoining Yetimoga area on Tuesday, he said tenders for the reservoir were finalised. The project design was also approved, he said, adding that works would commence this week.

When people complained about the stench caused by dumping of garbage in the surrounding areas, Mr. Gopalakrishna asked municipal authorities to clear the garbage along the salt creek and arrange for sprinkling of bleaching powder.

On old-age and disabled pensions, he said that sanctions for the same would be secured in six months.

Housing

He asked officials of the Housing Department to provide houses to eligible people under Rajiv Gruha Kalpa and Indiramma schemes.

While assuring people that the government was committed to providing infrastructure in interior and extension areas, he asked officials to expedite execution of the housing colony sanctioned under the Indiramma scheme in Yetimoga area for which the Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone recently.

Mayor K. Saroja, Deputy Mayor Bunny and Municipal Commissioner K. Venkateswerlu were present.
