Power shutdown
CHENNAI:
Power supply will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the following areas: Parts of Anna Nagar West including Thirumangalam, W-Block, H-Block and Asiad Colony and parts of Porur including R.E. Nagar, Wireless Station Road and Kerugambakkam owing to maintenance work.
Facilities for Government hostels
Mayor M. Subramanian interacted with students at the Government Hostel in Saidapet at a programme to commemorate the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar. He assured students that their requests for better basic amenities in hostels and training in communication skills in English would be communicated to the departments concerned. Each Government hostel would be given two computers for students' use, he noted.
PNB's new ATM
Punjab National Bank recently opened an ATM on Tiruvottiyur High Road in Washermenpet. The bank has 108 branches in Tamil Nadu. The bank's latest initiative is a farmers' training centre at Pillayarpati near Karaikudi.
Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will inaugurate the centre on Sunday.
