Advocate clerks must act as a bridge with clients: Judge

Anniversary celebrations of advocate clerks association

CHENNAI : Advocate clerks must act as a bridge between lawyers and their clients for the smooth functioning of the judicial system, said Justice K. Ravirajapandian.

Addressing the anniversary celebrations of the Madras High Court Advocate Clerks Welfare Association here, he urged the members to discharge their duties right from the first meeting with clients till copies of the orders were handed over in proper format.

R.C. Paul Kanagaraj, president of the Madras High Court Advocates Association, said advocates were the backbone of the judiciary and clerks were the backbone of advocates.

T.V. Ramanujun, president of the Madras Bar Association, said advocate clerks must provide quality education to their wards.

Appreciating the plea for a pension scheme, he donated Rs. 10,000, besides bearing the tuition fee of 30 members selected for computer training.

Additional Advocate-General P.S. Raman, announcing financial assistance to 30 more members, lamented that advocates had stopped paying 10 per cent of their fee to their clerks.

R. Ayyappan, secretary of the association, spoke.
