Seer opposes Sethu Samudram project
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Shankaracharya of Dwaraka Peeth Swami Sri Swarupananda Saraswati has said that he will move the Supreme Court if the Government does not stop work on the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP).
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that a dharma sabha would be organised at the Ram Leela grounds in New Delhi on May 13 against the project in which a large number of `sadhus', `sants' and some Shankaracharyas would participate.
In the run-up to the sabha, pressure would be brought on the Centre through meetings and discussions, he said.
Any attempt to damage the centuries old structure would be disastrous to religious feelings of Hindus, he said.
