MANGALORE: The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. will install a new 100-mVA transformer at the Kavoor power receiving station here, as a similar unit at the station has failed. A press release from Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. here on Tuesday stated that this work would be completed in 15 days. The completion of this work would improve power supply to areas under Puttur sub-division including Puttur, Belthangady, Bantwal and Sullia taluks, it said. C.S. Vijayakumar, Executive Engineer, Puttur sub-division of MESCOM, said that overnight heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning resulted in a technical snag at the 220-kV power distribution line at Kemar. This caused power shutdown in Puttur town and adjoining areas on Monday night. The snag had been rectified and power supply restored, he said.
