`Harassment': woman attempts suicide
Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
A 36-year-old woman attempted suicide by consuming poison on Monday, allegedly following harassment by an MLA.
Jayalakshmi, a resident of Vijayanagar, had parked her car on the side of Railway Parallel Road in Seshadripuram police station limits and consumed poison. A traffic police constable who saw her lying unconscious in the car had admitted her to Mallige Hospital. Her condition was critical, the police said.
The police said that her relatives had alleged that she was being harassed by a MLA from Davangere for the past few days. Ms. Jayalakshmi had worked as a nurse at Honnalli in Davangere district, where she had befriended the MLA.
