BANGALORE: MRO-TEK, the 22-year-old Bangalore-based hardware manufacturer focused on access networking devices, rolled out its one-millionth product here on Wednesday. The powered Ethernet Switch for accessing high-speed Internet connection, branded `Daisy' was received by the Karnataka Secretary for Information Technology and Biotechnology, M. N. Vidyashankar. S. Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, said the company with revenues of Rs. 140 crore took an early decision "not to jump on the software bandwagon" and stay focused on networking products, competing with global majors. "Twenty-seven per cent of our workforce are in research and development and we are among the few Indian manufacturers in our sector who have filed for international patents. Our users include the railways, mobile phone providers and the defence sector," he said. MRO-TEK claims a 50 to 70 per cent domestic market share in access networking products. Its products are now exported to South America and Europe for use in sectors such as oil and gas and banking/ financial services.
