To a first-time customer who has not previously visited Fabindia stores in other metros, the store would seem like a material metamorphosis of a rainbow with speckles of colour scattered in every nook and corner. For the loyalists who never miss out on a chance to frequent its outlets in other cities, the new store will give them ample opportunity to exercise their purse strings within local vicinity.

The store offers a range of home interiors, bed linen, kitchenware, body-care products, organic preserves and the much sought after cotton apparel for men, women and children. Fabindia promotes traditional Indian crafts, which has diversified from garments towards the recent body-care and organic food products range that boasts of exotic picks like Tulsi Ginger Tea, whole-wheat pasta and tangy mango preserves.

Ethnic designs

"We thought that customers would stick to the apparel section on the first day but we have already received six bookings for our furniture range," said manager of the showroom, Mala Sabharwal. Sleek elegant wooden and cane furniture shares space with vibrant coloured clothes in ethnic designs and motifs. Graceful sarees in a medley of colours compete with the trendy clothes range for toddlers, pre-adolescents and teenagers. College going girls can find many interesting pieces such as Khadi stoles, eye-catching dupattas and the perfect `ghera' skirts to add to their wardrobe.
