VISAKHAPATNAM: The District Legal Services Authority has issued fresh notices to the Collector and Special Officer for Gangavaram port regarding a petition filed before it by a local advocate in connection with the March 27, 2006, incidents in which a fisherman was killed and several others were injured in police firing and lathi-charge. The Secretary of DLSA issued the notices a few days ago after petitioner Mylapilli Adinarayana brought to the notice of the DLSA that the officials did not appear before the DLSA even one year after the incident. A petition was filed before the DLSA on March 28, 2006, against the Pendurthy MLA, the Collector and other Revenue officials, the Commissioner of Police and other police officials and the representative of the Gangavaram Port Limited. The officials filed `vakalats' through their advocates. But they did not appear before the DLSA for conciliation on the matter. The DLSA, after issuing notices to the officials, posted the case to April 23.
