KOZHIKODE: CPI(M) Polit Bureau member S.Ramachandran Pillai has said that there was a need for an independent system to handle contempt of court cases. At a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr.Pillai said though there was open discussion and criticism of the legislature and the executive, such things did not happen in the case of the judiciary. Responding to a query, Mr.Pillai said the CPI(M)'s recent criticism would only strengthen the judiciary. "We never aim at weakening the judiciary," he said. He also favoured forming of a National Judicial Commission which should prepare a list of judges and receive complaints against such appointments.
