A glorious past captured

Madhur Tankha

NEW DELHI: Focusing on the glorious moments of India's rich history will be The History Channel's new entertaining series, "Mera India", premiering on Thursday.

The eight-part series will make an attempt to explore and celebrate not only the country's epoch-making historical moments but also its turbulent eras. It will bring together episodes that unfold unique accomplishments that contribute to the country's emerging success. Each episode focuses on success stories from diverse fields such as the innovative "e-chaupals'' in Madhya Pradesh to value-added Information Technology parks in Bangalore. While an episode on literary geniuses takes a look at the grand success of Indian writing in English through well-known authors such as Amitav Ghosh, Vikram Seth and Arundhati Roy, another colourful episode on the dream factories of Bollywood captures the glamorous and glitzy world of the Indian film industry where every minute is pulsating with action.

"Mera India" has been produced in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs that has a track record of producing films on varied topics from our rich history.

This association has been entered into with a view to showcasing this content to a wider, interested and relevant audience.
