DHAKA: Issuing a warning against Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina's homecoming, the Bangladesh interim government on Wednesday instructed all air and land ports including the Bangladesh-bound airlines to take special measures to thwart the return of the leader of the country's largest political party. Ms. Hasina, who hailed the military-backed caretaker government when it assumed office on January 12 following a serious political crisis centring election, is scheduled to return home on April 23. Recently, she was critical of the interim authority over "delay" in holding the stalled parliamentary election. "In the recent past, because of irresponsible activities by her Awami League party and other political parties, the law and order situation and the economic life of the country collapsed, leading to the declaration of emergency in the country" a Home Ministry statement said.
