Two held near consulate

CHENNAI
: Two men were arrested and remanded to judicial custody for illegal possession of seven passports and 69 demand drafts.
Nungambakkam police arrested the two near the Malaysian Consulate office. Police found the two were in possession of 69 demand drafts each valued at Rs 650, which they sold for a premium. They also had seven passports with them.
Inspector of Police M Sivanupandian said the demand drafts, drawn from a public sector bank in Abiramapuram, had been sent for examination. Whether the instruments were original or fake is being investigated, he said.
Motorcycles theft
Nungambakkam police arrested a man and recovered three motorcycles here on Tuesday. According to a press release, during a vehicle check conducted near Kodambakkam High Road-Mahalingapuram Main Road junction, a two-wheeler rider was stopped.
It was found that he had stolen the vehicle. After questioning, police seized two more motorcycles.
On Monday, the police had received a complaint from Saravanan of Manali who had lost his two-wheeler near Valluvarkottam.
