HUBLI: Former Minister and leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) (Surendra Mohan faction) P.G.R. Sindhia has demanded the imposition of President's rule in the State. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Sindhia said "corruption had reached a zenith" under the coalition Government's rule. He said Ministers in the coalition Government engaged in corrupt practices and administration had taken a backseat. It was the right time to impose President's rule to safeguard the interests of the public and ensure justice. Mr. Sindhia said his party had submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Governor. Criticising Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa for taking out the "Vikas Yatra" when 128 taluks in the State were reeling under the drought, he asked: "Is the Deputy Chief Minister interested only in strengthening his party by spending extravagantly for the yatra when lakhs of people are facing hardship because of the drought?" Mr. Sindhia said that he would urge the Home Minister not to retire from active politics as he had to carry out the responsibility of building the Janata Dal (Secular). "Former Chief Ministers J.H. Patel and Ramakrishna Hegde had taken an oath from me, M.P. Prakash and Siddharamaiah that we would work to build the party. Mr. Prakash should remember that his responsibility has not been completed yet," Mr. Sindhia said. He said people in the State were fed up with the communal agenda of the BJP and the administration of the Congress and would be willing to support the Janata Dal (S). "Mr. Prakash has the capacity to lead the movement to strengthen the party and develop a third force. I will be with him to support him in the endeavour," Mr. Sindhia said.
