ALAPPUZHA: The Kerala Pradesh Karshaka Congress district committee has demanded that the newly constituted State Agriculture Debt Relief Commission visit the paddy fields in Kuttanad to assess the damage caused by delay in procurement of the harvested crop. In a statement, committee president Munjinattu Ramachandran and general secretary George Karachira said the commission should interact with all the farmers here who had suffered losses and take steps to pay compensation. The committee submitted a memorandum to Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran and Agriculture Minister Mullakara Ratnakaran stating the demand.
