Bangalore: You could have a richer cup of coffee in the morning if you buy Nandini's new milk brand on the market. A creamier version of its homogenised milk sourced from Holstein-Friesian cows was released by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy at a simple function organised by the Karnataka Milk Federation at the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday. The retail price of the milk, which has 3.5 per cent fat, is Rs. 8 for 500 ml. According to the Federation, the milk will be available at select shops in your locality. Mr. Kumaraswamy said the new Nandini milk underwent a special homogenisation process and was pasteurised and packed under hygienic conditions, keeping the freshness intact. Public Works and Energy Minister H.D. Revanna, who is president of the Federation, said the 13 district milk unions collected 29 lakh kg of milk daily. The Federation covered 60 per cent of the market in the State. It was supplying processed milk and milk products in all urban centres. Nandini toned milk contains 3 per cent fat, double toned milk has 1.5 per cent fat and standardised milk has 4.5 per cent fat. The Federation also supplies milk with 6 per cent fat and two lakh litres of curd in sachets. Apart from these, it also distributes 38,000 litres of Good Life milk in tetrapacks and 20,000 packets of flavoured milk.
