Case against drivers of public vehicles

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Rural Police have registered 230 cases against drivers of public transport vehicles on charges of using audio systems while driving. Public vehicles were inspected on Wednesday and Thursday under directions of the Superintendent of Police, Rural. The police said the drive to check use of audio systems in public transport vehicle would continue.

Management workshop

KOCHI: The All India Management Association will hold a workshop on `Management Skills to Source Financing and Management of Technologies by SMEs' here on April 21. J.S. Juneja, chairman of the association, will be the course director. The workshop will be held at the Management House, Kerala Management Avenue, Panampilly Nagar. The day-long workshop will have two technical sessions, which will be addressed by various experts.

Meritorious service award

KOCHI: K.P Balakrishna Panicker, deputy station manager, Ernakulam, and G. Manu, chief commercial inspector, have won awards for meritorious service. They were honoured with the awards at the 52nd Railway week award function held at Chennai last week. Southern Railway general manager Thomas Varghese distributed the medal and certificates.

Succumbs to injuries

KOCHI: An accident victim who was admitted to Medical Trust Hospital on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. The police identified the deceased as Sandeep, 24, son of Chandran, Veliyil House, Kanjiramattam. The accident occurred when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a lorry. He was returning after visiting his wife at the Thripunithura Taluk hospital, where she was delivered of a baby.
